The AAMFT Approved Supervisor designation signifies that the designee is actively engaged in and available to provide clinical supervision. The designation is granted for a five-year term, during which Approved Supervisors must maintain full Professional membership and the Clinical Fellow designation, and remain current on all applicable annual membership dues and designation fees. Renewing the designation for another 5 years is a 2-step process: 1. completing an AAMFT Approved Supervision Refresher Course and 2. submitting a complete renewal application.
AAMFT Approved Supervisors must complete a six-hour Approved Supervisor Refresher Course prior to renewing their five-year term. The course must be taken within two years prior to the designation expiration date. The renewal application must be submitted within a year of the designation expiration date and not earlier than that.
