As the professional home for MFTs, AAMFT understands that navigating a career in systemic therapy can be challenging at times. It is our goal to provide you with the information, guidance and support that you need to thrive as a marriage and family therapist and as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor.
The Member Services Team is always willing to assist with any questions or concerns that may arise. You may either email central@aamft.org or call 703-838-9808. Our office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Eastern, Monday-Friday. However, there are times that you may need more in-depth or specialized recommendations. We ensure that you have access to subject matter experts by offering the opportunity to book consultation appointments for legal and ethical concerns, Approved Supervisor information and questions related to membership under the evaluative track.
How do I consult with an attorney if I have a question about a legal or ethical matter? All current members of AAMFT have access to free ethical advisory opinions. Free legal consultation is only available to AAMFT Professional - Full members, Professional - Early members and Affiliate members. Please be aware that you must be a current member of AAMFT to be eligible for ethical or legal consultations.
Legal consultations include guidance on various topics including subpoenas, conflicts of interest, business and practice issues, technology and more. Please be aware that AAMFT attorneys may not interpret state law or review documents. Check the Legal and Ethics Consultation page for more information regarding consultations and available hours.

To access AAMFT’s Code of Ethics, Ethics Complaint Process, Legal and Ethics Fact Sheets, and information regarding the Student Ethics Competition, login to www.aamft.org and select Legal and Ethics under the Enhance Knowledge tab. Please be aware that the Legal and Ethics Fact Sheets are on a member protected page, so you will need to log into your account in order to access that information.
How do I gather information regarding Approved Supervisor related questions or issues? Our Approved Supervisor Resources webpage includes a wide range of information that pertains to all aspects of the AAMFT Approved Supervisor designation. We always recommend reading the Approved Supervision Designation: Standards Handbook, which details all aspects of the AS program and can answer most questions regarding the designation. This webpage also provides links for the following: online Fundamentals of Supervision and Supervision Refresher courses, COAMFTE Doctoral program pre-approved courses, Supervision Forms, the Approved Supervisor Directory and Approved Supervisor FAQs.

How do I learn more about AAMFT’s membership under the evaluative track?
